11-07-2009: we have visited to Narayana Hrudayalaya along with the kid. The doctors agreed to operate for the case.

Case in a nutshell :

The baby has two problems:

1.Transpostion of great arteries (that is the pipes carrying pure blood and impure blood got interchanged)

2. Also, hole in the heart

So, the case is very critical. Generally the baby has to be operated at 3 months old only but It is one year for the baby now. The weight is 4kg which is less when compared to normal 1 year baby (10kgs is what they should be).

I gave brief introduction about our group as soon as I met the doctor. Indeed, the doctor asked his co doctor to do the ECHO test (1K) for free without the administrative hassles. Doctors don’t have power to talk to administration to waive off the fees. So, they spoke to each other and done echo test at free of cost. I am really impressed with the way Mr. Devi shetty has laid the principles of the hospital. The mantra in Narayana Hrudayalaya is never to reject a case. All the cases have to be operated and Narayana Hrudayalaya is the one of the best and affordable hospitals in India. And any failure, they will have status meeting. The hospital is clearly not money minded and I can tell you that.

We went to surgeon who does a second opinion. Even he was interested in our work and requested Narayana Hrudayalaya authorities to reduce the operation cost and also referred us personally to the Charity trust at Narayana Hrudayalaya. With the surgeon's help, the operation cost was reduced from 1,80,000 to 1,40,000. We also got approval from NH charity for 1lakh. We will be paying 40K from our pocket. Even the surgeon helped us in joining the baby immediately with the blood reports which is usually not the case. He took personal interest and he said he will take personal interest for any cases that I refer in future too. The baby is admitted now and we are waiting for operation date.

Kudos to Pavan Pyda for talking to charity trust and getting the things done. Indeed, he was with the kid till 2 PM keeping aside his official commitments. Not many can do that.

We are waiting for the date of operation and hope everything goes well.
