Lalitha and her Mother(Nagalakshmi) was travelling in two wheeler on January 20th for Dental treatment. She is very badly injured such that her lower body is completely injured. Nagalakshmi is injured as well but not as severe as Lalitha. Nagalakshmi waited for Ambulance for long time and she rushed to nearby Medical college and Hospital , but they were denied admission as they were not treating patients since Covid pandemic period.
Nagalakshmi then arranged a private ambulance from there to nearby Hospital Sri Ramachandra Hospital, Porur. Doctors said that she is badly injured and they will try their level best to save her. They performed almost 8 operations for about 9 hours. They also told them that her recovery will be a slow process and it would cost around 20 Lakhs. Nagalakshmi and Venkatraman explained them about the family financial status and they had only 4 lakhs insurance. They tried their level best to do the life saving procedures and emergency operation to contain within 4 lakhs. They also suggested to continue treatment in their GENERAL Block, where the cost of treatment is lesser than Main Block.
Lalitha's parents then shifted Lalitha to the GENERAL Block and started their treatment. The major injuries were Pelvic Bone Damages and fractures (Left and Right), Urinary Bladder Rupture, Her Buttocks and thigh muscles were completely crushed. Currently the pelvic bone damages are 80% recovered. For the urinary bladder rupture to recover, they have added a tube to bypass the urine directory to external bag. In the meantime, the tissues in the buttocks and thigh area started to decay and large amount of infection and pus is formed. The skin also turned black. Then they started plastic surgery in multiple phases.
Initially they removed the whole skin and took the skin from her leg below the Knee region and plastered in thigh and Buttocks section. They started special kind of dressing which involved 4 pads each costing around 11k. Each dressing would cost around 50k and is being done once every week. These pads has special provision to absorb the fluids coming out of the tissue and is being sucked by a machine in special container. This container is single use and costs about 3k. Earlier, there were so much fluids coming out such that one container gets filled every day. Nowadays the fluids the has reduced to an extent. Doctors suggested to have lot of protein content and suggested them to have non veg. Being a veg family, Lalitha is not able to consume non veg food. She is having egg to an extent and they are using Pediasure. They are spending about Rs.1200 and had to use about 200g per day.
