03-Feb-2019: Mrs Lakshmy has been supporting us for Eco Ganesha Campaign so we requested her to provide us the opportunity to conduct camp @ Ferns Habitat, Mahadevapura. 15-Jul-2016: We got a request from our Coordinator Sukumar's friend who needs blood for his 1yr baby Heart operation @ Narayana Hrudayalaya. Our volunteer Ganesh Pyda (brother of Sukumar) donated O+ve blood. The baby is doing well post operations. Appreciate both Ganesh and Sukumar to help the needy on time.

25-Jun-2016: We got a call from Rajasekhar two weeks ago who would like to donate Blood on his Birthday (25th June). Our coordinator Sukumar Pyda did the needful arrangements so Rajasekhar donated Platelets @ Rotary ttk Blood Bank, Thippasandra. TMAD appreciates his interest and he is an inspiration to all of us who wants to do something to the society on our Birthdays.

13-Jun-2015:The camp was conducted where 15 members attended the camp in which 12 donated blood and 3 got rejected.

12-Jun-2015: Our coordinator got a request from Novateur Electrical & Digital Systems Pvt. Ltd. , Indiranagar, Bangalore to organize a camp on 13th June. Though Sukumar is out of station, coordinated with Rotary ttk Blood bank and did the needful arrangements to conduct the camp within a short period of time (one day).

26-Sep-2014: We got a request from Rahul for O+ve blood for his brother who is a blood cancer patient admitted in Apollo Hosiptal, Banergattha Road. Our volunteer Suresh Babu Pyda donated.

Blood Donation Camps in association with Rotary ttk Blood Bank (15th year Running):

We have been conducting blood donation camps every 3-4 months at Rotary ttk Blood Bank, Thippasandra, Bangalore from 2009 and this is our 15th year running. Rotary Ttk is providing free blood to Thalassemia patients. Thalassemia patients require blood transfusion every month, life long. We initially started with not more than 20 people coming forward. We never was worried about the number of donors but continued to conduct the blood camp and do what ever possible irrespective of how much. Currently at least 50-60 people participate in every blood camp conducted by us. Much greater contribution can be done and would invite all kind hearted to come forward and participate in our blood camp. Please participate and encourage your friends to donate blood by forwarding our blood camp website link to as many as possible

Blood Donation Camp in association with KARNATAKA RED CROSS BLOOD BANK:

About KARNATAKA RED CROSS BLOOD BANK:

RED CROSS collects the blood and uses it in the rural areas. It also provides the blood donor a donor card with that the blood donor can have a free unit blood whenever he requires with the Doctor certificate. If we don't have the donor card they will charge for testing and storing i.e., Rs.350 per unit for government hospitals and Rs.600 per unit for private hospitals.

21-11-2012: TMAD got a request from Mrs. Sujana N, Coordinator of ABHYUDAYA group to conduct a blood donation camp in Gopalan Grandeur, Hoodi Junction, Bangalore. So TMAD coordinated with KARNATAKA RED CROSS BLOOD BANK to conduct the camp.

15-12-2012: Our event at Gopalan Grandeur become a huge success. 95 donors came forward to donate the blood. Blood collected from 64 donors. 31 donors blood samples are rejected.

Blood Donation Facts

What are the reasons to donate Blood?

Blood is always needed for

• Accident victims, surgery patients, Pre mature and pre term babies
• Thalassemia patients who needs blood transfusion every month life long

Who can donate?

• Age:18 - 60 years
• Weight : > 45 kgs
• Hemoglobin level:>12 gm/dl for men and 12.5 gm/dl for women
• Donors who donated 3 months (90 days) back

Who can’t donate?

• If you are suffering from health disorders like Abnormal Bleeding, Heart, Kidney, Liver, Thyroid, Asthma, Cancer, Diabetics, uncontrolled high Blood Pressure
• If consumed Alcohol in the previous 24 hours
• Female donors during pregnancy, after delivery for one year and during menstrual period and for 7 days there after

What are the precautions to be taken before donating blood?

• Donor must have had good rest/sleep last night and had meal

What are the post donation precautions to be taken by the donor?

• Drink lots of fluids for next 24 hours
• Avoid smoking for one hour & alcohol till after a meal
• Don’t use elevator to go up immediately after donation as it will make blood rush to your feet & make you dizzy!
• Avoid highly strenuous exercises & games for a day
• If you feel dizzy, lie down & put your feet up. You will be alright in 10-20 mins.
• Remove band-aid after 4 hours.

What are the tests need to be done by blood bank after blood taken?

• HIV, Hepatitis B/C, Malaria etc.

What are the benefits to donor of blood donation?

• Regular donation (2-3 times in a year) lowers Cholesterol and decrease incidence of heart attacks
• Donor is also eligible to receive one FREE unit of blood if needed for self/family/friends
