We got request from Director Ysm.K.Virabhadra Sastri of livelihood center in Vijayawada where free coaching in computer and tailoring was given for ladies exclusively.
TMAD collaborated with other NGO’s like Saayam Cheddam Foundation, Satkarya Foundation, Amma Social Welfare Association and has been supporting the Livelihood center in Vijayawada.
TMAD has been supporting Rs 12000 per year to this livelihood center since 2011.
About the Livelihood Center:
The center was started from October 2007 where free coaching was given in computer and tailoring. It is situated in the Office Building of Y's Men's Club of Vijayawada Town in Satyanarayanapuram, Vijayawada 520011.
The coaching in computer will be for MS Office and DTP for two months period and for tailoring, it will be also for two months
They have completed 9 batches till now for every batch 25 ladies for computer and 15 ladies for tailoring attended so far. They are planning to start 10th batch after Pongal
There is a very nominal fee for basic registration and for issuance of certificate. The candidates are selected based on an interview. They will publish in local daily and they get people. So far no batch is dull and all the time, they had to refuse admission owing to more demand.
In 2010, 80% of the candidates who attended the free coaching in computer have been employed in their respective skills and some are managing with self employment by purchasing computers on loan basis from banks.
Initially Medplus and other medical shops showed interest to employ the people who learnt computers. Some of them joined in DTP Centers. Those who learnt Tailoring started stitching from home.
Every month a sum of Rs. 6000 is being used towards maintenance such as salaries for the Instructors, electricity charges, and for maid etc.,
They do not get funds from govt.Generous donors in the city are helping them to run the coaching centre. with great difficulty they are running this coaching with a view to help the ladies to earn money for their existence.
About Director Ysm.K.Virabhadra Sastri:
Sri KVB Sastri, a retd. Railway official, aged 81 years. He is a writer and active social worker. He is a member of Y's Men Club, Vijayawada. They started computer class and tailoring class in 2007. Out of Rs. 6000 that is required to run this center, he has been contributing Rs. 4000 from his pension. But now it became difficult for him to continue the same.
He is friend of Prashanthi Uppalapati since 2003. He is more of a grandfather than a friend. He retired long back and very true of the words...... retired but not tired.
If you are interested to help vishnu, please support him by donating for the good cause.
