Almost every day we read about a farmer’s suicide at one or other part of the country. It became so common that it failed to touch our hearts and move us. The following video depicts the fear in which farmers’ family members live.

Even if we feel the pain and have concern, we are not aware on how we will be able to help them.
We may have noticed that we as consumers are also victims of price fluctuations. Sometimes the prices are too low or as is the case with Toor dal (Kandipappu )that will again hike up exponentially in few months like it happens year after year. One option is to buy the produce directly from farmers, ... a simple yet powerful act that could save some lives.
So, let us take the LEAD as a responsible CONSUMER and steer a few things right…Let’s start with Toor-dal.
Two non-profit organizations, Centre for sustainable agriculture (CSA) and Rythu Swarajya Vedika (RSV), have decided to work with villages in distress - those where most farmers’ suicides happen - to procure, process, pack and distribute the Toor-dal (Kandi pappu) from the farmers to the consumers in 10 Kg pack: You need to buy in bulk for benefiting both farmers and consumers.
TMAD wished to support this cause of supporting farmers and by donating Toor Dal to an organization which provides shelter to rescued and orphaned girls, http://kgnmthyd.org/. They need 177 kgs. of Toor Dal per month
